7 Tips for Grooming Your Dog in Quarantine

As the Coronavirus spreads all over the world, it is best to stay at home and avoid unnecessary gatherings. In this tough time, our dogs also suffer from not getting the grooming they need. So, here are some simple tips and ways to groom your dog at home safely.

#1. Always use Hypoallergenic Tearless Shampoo

Hypoallergenic tearless shampoos are best for your dog because when you are bathing him or her, it is likely that the shampoo will get into their eyes and if it is not tearless then your pooch will have irritation. If you do not have Dog shampoo at home then you can either use this or baby shampoo. Never use human shampoo on your dog because it can cause an allergic reaction.

#2. No Human Toothpaste

Dogs are very sensitive to chemical products which is why we have to choose everything for them very thoughtfully. Unnecessary products should not be used and necessary products should be used in a limitation. Brushing your dog’s teeth every day is very much important. It helps remove those bacterias and germs he or she gathers daily. However, if your dog has a healthy mouth then you can brush 3 to 4 times a week but it is always best to make them brush every day.

#3. Cut the Hair Growing and Hanging in front of your Dog’s Eyes

Grooming hair is another very important thing and breeds like Afgan Hound, American Eskimo dog, English setter, Havanese and many more grow excessive hair in a month so you need to keep trimming their furs. If you are not very good at trimming hair for your dog then you can just trim the hair hanging in front of your pooch’s eyes. Dogs also do not like to have hair in front of their eyes which is why they feel relieved.

#4. Do Not Lose Patience

You have to be very patient with your dog because you may be new to this and your dog may trust you but it is not in their nature to stay very still during their grooming. They will move and you will have to stop many times before you can achieve your goal. If you lose patience and scold or force your dog then it will stain your relationship with your pooch.

#5. Always Extricate the Grip

When you are bathing your dog or cutting your dog’s nail / hair do not hold him or her too forcefully. If you grab them too tightly they will feel pain and they will try to go away from you. They might growl at you as a warning sign so you should be careful. If you do not want your dog to run away then you can leash him.

#6. Make a Schedule

You have to make a schedule because you can not groom them every day as it will be harmful and unnecessary for our four-legged lovely canines. You should decide to groom 2 to 3 times a month depending on your dog’s breed and age. If you do not go according to a schedule then you might over-groom your dog which can be exhausting for your dog and for you too.

#7. Groom one Thing in a Day

Last but not the least you should not do all the grooming procedures in one day because dogs do have a limit and they will not be so patient through hours and hours. Imagine cutting your dog’s hair and right after trimming his nails. Dogs are very reluctant to trim their nails so it is a hassle with them. So divide your dog’s grooming schedules into different days.
