My First Trip to Magnolia Plantation!
I don't think it's a big secret that Magnolia Plantation is one of the great dog friendly places to go in Charleston. But since I had never been there and fall is such a great time of the year, mom and I decided to check them out last week. You can check out my slideshow by clicking the picture above to see what a great time I had at the plantation!
The customer service lady at the ticket counter was super nice. She told me I could go on all of the tours except the house tour and the zoo area. She also told us that she had a chocolate lab at home as well, so you know she must be awesome. Mom and I spent the day walking through all the gardens and I sniffed a bunch of cool flowers and then we had a picnic together. There weren't any baggy stations around that we could find, so make sure when you go to bring your own bags to clean up your business.
We came across a few other dogs and their people exploring the gardens. Even saw a fellow canine (albeit a very small one) hop on the tram to take a tour. Being a water dog myself, I opted for the boat tour. Most of the passengers on the boat tour were excited to see all the alligators, but you will have to excuse my lack of gator enthusiasm--they keep me out of some of the best swimming holes. I did enjoy seeing all the birds in the swamp and listening to our guide tell us all about them.
Magnolia Plantation is also the host of Rafter's Trot for Canine Cancer Research (it used to be called Trot for the Cure). You should go ahead and mark your calendars for January 9, 2011, because it sounds like it is going to be a great time.
