Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Lola

My dog's name is Lola. She is 4 years old and is a Mix, but is definitely part Dachshund. The most memorable moment so far with our Lola was probably the day we found her. We were visiting friends in Hazelhurst, GA, a very small country town. We were taking a ride on our family friend's work horse aka souped up golf cart. Lola came running up to us and jumped right on, wagging her tail and letting the breeze catch her face. She didn't leave our side for the rest of the day. She was as friendly as could be and we decided we had to take her home with us right then and there. The most ironic thing about it was on the way to visit our friends we were talking in the car about adopting a dog from a shelter. Lola found us and we have loved her with great joy every day since.

(Side note: Let me add, when Lola spent the day with us the day she found us. We found out that our friend's neighbors had been feeding her but she was living outside. The neighbors had put up signs around town for three weeks and no one was claiming her. So they were thrilled when we said we'd take her back to Charleston with us. )

Lola loves people and other dogs. She greets everyone with a wag in her tail and a bounce in her step. She loves taking her daily walk around the neighborhood and playing with the other dogs in the neighborhood and getting a belly rub from her admirers. Her second favorite thing is napping on our king size bed, smack dab in the middle with lots of blankets and pillows.

Lola's personality is one of a kind. Some say she is a human stuck in a dog's body. She is kind, sweet, very friendly, bubbly and cuddly. Lola has by far brought my husband and I so much love and laughter. She makes every day better by just her presence. I can truly say she has made me one of the biggest dog lovers in the world and I am eternally grateful to have her in our lives.
