Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Charley

Charley (Charleston) Outland is my 1 and 1/2 years old Boykin Spaniel. She is the South Carolina State Dog! My most memorable moment with Charley was helping her deliver her first litter of puppies and us learning together how to care for them in their first hours of life.

We have to admit she's not the best swimmer but she sure loves to try. She splashes everywhere while she lifts her front paws out of the water. She also loves to go on car rides with every window in the car down. But her favorite activity is playing with her brothers Cooper and Carlos. They sit in the middle of the yard while she runs as fast as she can in circles around them.

Charley's personality is rambunctious, loving, daring, high spirited and eccentric. Getting Charley has forever changed me. Im the "crazy talk about her dog like she's my child" type of person now. She's showed me that no matter how many handbags, sandals, and magazines she chews up I can and will always love her. She's showed that getting up at 5:00 am on a Saturday for a potty run isn't quite that bad as long as she comes running back to the house with her baby in her mouth with the cutest playful look on her face.

There Is nothing better than trying to cook dinner and having Charley right there next to wanting to dance with you. She has brought so much joy into not only our lifes but our friends, families, and all of her puppies families. She helped make our relationship into a family, and we will always have a special place in our hearts (and our bed) for our little Char Char.
