Foster Fridays: Skippy
Hi there! My name is Skippy aka "The Skipster". I am a 1 year old male Chow/Lab mix. I am medium in size; I was 15 lbs at intake but between 20-25 lbs now. I am filling out nicely! I have been with my foster mom for three weeks now and she says that we are trying to find me a forever home! Could that be you?
I am 90% housebroken (I occassionally have potty accidents on rainy days). I will/have used a crate but am usually left out around the house and have never had an incident. I know how to sit and give paw. I love other dogs, LOVE to play with them, am not cat aggressive (no interest in them) and am good with kids too!
Here is what my foster mom has to say about me:
Skippy is happy, upbeat and game for anything anytime. He loves to cuddle but does not seek affection althought he is more than happy to receive it. Skippy likes to explore but is fairly attached and likes to keep you in sight. Skippy needs an emotionally secure owner who wants to do activities together and spend lots of time with him. Kids or other pets would be a plus because Skippy loves to play.
One of my favorite moments with Skippy was learning that he can open the door to the patio that has a lever door handle. He is super smart and taught himself how to do it in two days. The best daily moment with him is the way he lays his head on my lap and breathes a sign of contentment when I sit on his bed.
Skippy has a heart murmur 2/6 but appears to be in excellent health otherwise. He just wants an active family to play and snuggle with and show his devoted affection to for the rest of his furry life. Pretty quiet guy as dogs go, he is a perfect mix between a loner and a lover.
Skippy was given up by the owners when the police came to investigate a grossly underweight dog in the backyard of a house. The family had no interest in caring for him. He appears to have had very limited human/animal interaction but has blossomed beautifully in the last several weeks. He's even learning to walk on a leash quite well.
If you'd like to meet Skippy as much as he would like to meet you please contact the good people at the Charleston Animal Society.
