Foster Fridays: Ralphie

Hi there everyone. My name is Ralphie. I am a 1 year old male Lab mix and have been with my foster mom for over 3 weeks now. I would really love to have a forever home of my own. If you could share my story with your friends and family, I will be sure to shower you with many licks...I mean kisses!

I am house and crate trained. I am also up-to-date on my vaccinations and neutered. I may not know any special tricks, but my foster mom says I should be content with just being all around cute.

Here is what my foster mom has to say about me:

Ralpie is avery sweet and happy boy. He gets along with other dogs, cats and kids. He enjoys a good romp but has his quiet times too. Ralphie is very curious and quick to respond to his name. I think he is afraid he’ll miss something; he is one of those pups that find joy in any little thing. I have 4 other dogs and Ralphie fit right in with the pack. He does great with food; no pushing or shoving and he plays appropriately (at least before surgery; he is now on restriction) with my Lab. He is just a fun goofy young Lab. I love when Ralphie comes up to me, gives me a solid body nudge, and then lays right near me...such a loving boy.

Most importantly, Ralphie needs to go to a home where he will be provided regular exercise once his leg heals, he is a young dog and enjoys a good time. I wouldn’t want him to be left for any length of time so maybe an at home active young family or an older active person. He would probably do fine with many different homes. I would recommend another dog for him to play with.

Ralphie was a stray and has been through some tough times. He was pulled by Daisy’s Place Retriever Rescue from a kill shelter about 2 months ago. He had a broken elbow – recently operated on and will be on restricted activity for another 5 weeks. In addition, Ralphie had some type of caustic burn to his face. We tried to save his right eye but it was removed a few weeks ago. But don’t tell Ralphie he may be handicapped, as he sure doesn’t act like it. He is a smaller Lab at about 40 lbs and very agile.

If you or someone you know would like to meet Ralpie, please contact the good people at Daisy’s Place Retriever Rescue. He is waiting for you!

submitted by Maureen Distler. I have been fostering for 7 years to too many animals to count (seriously). My 14 year old Golden Retriever Malachi passed away and I was not ready to adopt but thought fostering would fill the void. It did and Hank (my first foster failure) is still with me.

Want to give your foster pup exposure for adoption? Send us up to 3 photos, and a short {500 words or less} write up about your adoptable foster dog OR fill out the Foster Fridays Questionnaire posted on the website. Email the info to gillian@lowcountrydog.com using the subject line: Foster Fridays.
