Foster Fridays: Edna

The story we heard about Edna was that she was born in a field behind a gas station on Edisto Island. Her dog-mother relied on scraps given to her by customers at the gas station to keep herself strong enough to nurse all of her pups. Because her mother was feral, nobody could ever catch her and get her into the rescue group on the island. Luckily, most of her litter was adopted out, but there were some pups that could not be found. Edna was one of those pups.

It wasn't until Edna turned up back at that gas station where she was born that our rescue group was able to get her in to foster care – and she was eager to go! She knew immediately that she was about to experience all the benefits of being loved on by a bunch of people who would take care of her and get her a forever-home.

We guess that Edna is about 10 months old as of May 1, 2012. She is a tri-colored mix who looks to have some German shepherd in her (based on her ears, tail and coloring) and maybe some Labrador Retriver. She weighs about 40 pounds and has the height of a Labrador. She is spayed and current with all of her vaccinations.

Edna adores people and getting hugs. She really loves having another dog around to play with and she thinks everyone is her friend. She knows how some basic commands and will do virtually anything to get a treat!

One of Edna's best friends just got adopted so now she knows that it is her turn! She can't wait to join a family and give them all the love that she has to give!
