Daisy's Place Adoptable Dogs

It's Friday which means it's time for your weekly dose of Adoptable Dogs! Today we're featuring Daisy's Place Retriever Rescue. They are dedicated to saving and finding loving homes for Retrievers (and Retriever mixes) six years and older. If you're not able to adopt at this time, consider fostering, sponsoring or donating toward an animal in need.

1. Rheba

  • Hi there, I'm Rheba or The Diva as my foster mom calls me! I'm an adorable spry little grey muzzle! Me and my housemate Odin (another Daisy Dog) lived with our dad and we were a happy family. Then one day when the economy got bad dad had to move and he couldn't take us with him. He tried everything he could think of, but he had to find us a new home. He got in touch with Auntie M at Daisy's Place, but it was New Year's weekend and there were no open foster homes and boarding was full. Auntie M said she'd do her best to find a place for me - and maybe Odin, although he's not a Retriever - but that dad had to take us to the shelter first. We tried not to let dad see how scared we were, he was crying when he said good-bye to us and we didn't want him to feel worse, so we wagged our tails and huddled together. And then two days later Auntie M arrived and she took me and Odin outside and we jumped up into the back of the car and we knew we were SAFE! I had some flea allergies, but I went to a really nice vet and he took care of me. I love to go for walks and to play with other dogs, I especially like mothering puppies! And did I tell you? I LOVE riding in the car, so much so that sometimes it's hard to get me to get out when we reach our destination! Oh, and I'm fine sharing my space with the feline types, too. I really love going swimming, too! If you're looking for a really sweet little lady who doesn't act her age, I'm the girl for you!

2. Ralphie

  • Hi there - I'm Ralphie and everyone says I'm a very special little boy! I got picked up by animal control because a nice lady saw that I wasn't being treated very well (that's an underestatement!) and so I went to the shelter. The lady at the shelter said I was such a special boy that I should be a Rosebud - an honorary Daisy Dog under the age of six - and so off I went to start my new life. I was so excited, even with a badly broken elbow and a chemical burn on my face and eye, I wanted to jump out of the car the minute I got to Charleston! I went to the doctor and got a check-up, everyone was really sweet to me and I had xrays and then I had to get neutered - that wasn't a lot of fun, but I kept my happy face on! Then I went to meet two very special people - Dr. Anne Cook and her husband Dr. Wes Cook - she's a doggy eye doc and he takes care of broken bones and stuff. Well, Dr. Anne tried really hard to save my eye, but it was just too badly damaged and so she fixed up my face and then removed my eye. Dr. Wes fixed my broken elbow and now I'm good as new! I love everyone - other dogs, cats, kids, EVERYONE! You can see from one of my photos how much I love my buddy Stripes - he's looking for his forever home, too and we'd really love to stay together if we can. We've sort of bonded since we were both abandoned and now we have a loving foster family and life is good! I get around just fine and I don't know what all the fuss is about, everyone says I'm such a brave boy, but I'm just your typical happy-go-lucky Labby! I love going to the beach and I love to play - I'm also very good in the house and don't even have to stay in a crate when my foster mom isn't home. If you have room in your heart and home for a small Labby mix with the biggest heart you've ever met - I'm the boy for you!

3. Iris

  • Hi there! I'm Iris, a beautiful sweet "Huskador"! I'm about 6 years young and as you can see from my photos I have gorgeous blue eyes, I also have thick soft fur and all I want to do is love and be loved. I was hit by a car near Myrtle Beach and some nice people took me to the emergency vet, but they couldn't keep me so I ended up at the shelter. My people didn't come looking for me and I was so sad, then one day a really nice man came and told me that I was going to be a Daisy Dog and I jumped in his car to start my new life in Charleston! I've been to the vet and he took xrays, no permanent damage from my accident, my back hips were sore but I'm starting to feel much better - I have a bounce in my step and life is good! I love my foster brother - a big goofy black Labby - and as you can see from my picture, I even share my bed with the cat in the house! I love to go for car rides, I'm very good on a leash (although I don't really need one, I'll just follow you around!) and I'm great in the house. I love my foster family and they adore me, but I'd really like to find a forever home - so if you're looking for a super sweet, easy going, loving girl, I'm the one for you!

4. Frank

  • Frank will be undergoing heartworm treatment at the end of May 2012 - he's not available for adoption until he completes treatment. If you're interested in meeting Frank, please contact Daisy's Place. Frank is very sweet, gentle and loving and will be ready for his forever home soon! Please check back for further updates!
