ALOE Adoptable Dogs

Animal Lovers of Edisto began in 2006 and its volunteers work diligently rescuing the stray and abandoned dogs of Edisto Island. We provide these dogs - who often times have never known a kind touch or a full belly - with food, shelter, veterinarian care, exercise, and perhaps most importantly – kindness and love. ALOE does not euthanize animals, but we are short on space, so we make it a point to try and find our dogs homes as quickly as possible through Internet outreach, adoption days, and fliers posted throughout town.
1. Rosie
- Rosie is one girl who has stolen the hearts of many of the ALOE volunteers. We met her in Sept. 2010 when she wandered onto the property of a local who looked into her sweet eyes and knew she needed help. This poor baby had a dirty belt tied tightly around her neck and she had either snapped it or chewed through it so she could get away from wherever it was that she had been living. Even though her background couldn't have been great, you would never know it based on how loving Rosie is! This girl is an American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix who is 2 years old, perfectly healthy, spayed, microchipped, and full of energy. Rosie loves to go for walks, play fetch, swim, and snuggle up to her person and watch TV. A little exercise goes a long way for this beauty queen who gets a little overly hyper without it. Rosie does not like other dogs or cats, and will need to be in a home without either of these animals.
2. Mitzie
- Look at the face on Mitzie! This little Boston Terrier mix is just under 30 pounds and makes everyone fall in love with her with her goofy ears and happy smile. Mitzie wasn't always treated too nicely as she can be timid at times, but as soon as she knows she isn't going to be hurt she is a big love bug! Mitzie loves kids and all people and really wants to find out what it's like to be beloved family pet. She is spayed, current with her vaccinations, and being treated for heartworms, which she is expected to fully recover from.
