2010 LCD Model Contest Photo Galleries Go Live

******PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE LINK TO GALLERIES FROM 2010!!!!!********

Yay! LCD Model Contest Photo Galleries are live! Click HERE to see the galleries.

The cover model contest was a big hit this last weekend. With around 600 entries it was a busy couple days for us, but well worth it! The weather was fantastic and we had a chance to meet a lot of really great people! Thank you all for participating and being patient with us!! Special thanks to King Street Studios for their time and their awesome talents! Please reward their efforts by purchasing a copy of your dog's photo. Prints come in a variety of sizes to fit every budget! Don't you want a great photograph of your dog to remember Pet Fest 2010 by?

There is at least one image of every dog so your dog is definitely in the gallery! Some dogs were a little more challenging than others to photograph, so we may have only been able to capture one image due to time constraints.  Some dogs have multiple images. There are no favorites in these general galleries, but if we did happen to get some extra images of an owner's dog we decided to leave them the option to purchase any of the shots. Having only one shot of your dog to choose from in this gallery does not mean that you did not win.

How to View The Gallery

Once you click through to the gallery you will see thumbnails on the left and the larger version of the image on the right. You can click on each individual thumbnail to see it larger or click through each image with the arrows located directly above the larger image. If you would like to move through the thumbnails quickly to find your dog, click on the arrows directly above the thumbnails. And if you click on the larger image it will go full page- click on it again and it will come back to thumbnail view.

Because of the number of images it would have taken days to upload high res files, so we kept the file sizes low. If you want to purchase an image larger than 5 x 7 contact us with the picture numbers and we will add the high res files for you!

So contact them through their website: www.kingstreetstudios.com

But also make sure you are clicking to the largest version of the photo online, and then click BUY or on the shopping cart optoin You should then be able to order up to a 5x7 without having to request that they upload a larger file.

Top 10 will be announced this weekend and voting will begin right here on lowcountrydog.com. The dog who receives the most votes will be crowned our Top Dog Cover Model!

How are the top ten chosen, since all of the photos are so good? Bay wants to know, as he had so much fun Saturday and had told all his friends to vote for him.

You are right! They are all fantastic photos, but I will choose 10 of the best based on expression, over all "beauty", special skills provided on the entry form by owners, and that indescribable "That's It!" factor. Then the general public will vote for their favorite of the Top 10 here on lowcountrydog.com.

Lots of different types of dogs have won this contest in the past, show dogs, mutts, small dogs, big dogs, old dogs, young dogs. It's truly anyone's game!

how do you vote?

by Leah England | Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 at 9:20pm

I'll be choosing the top 10 and then posting a new story with voting directions right here on lowcountrydog.com. Just stay tuned. :-)

I thought the top 10 for the contest was going to be up this weekend. Tomorrow is Sun. Any news on that?

by brhudson | Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at 7:40pm

Well well well. It's Sunday night and the weekend has pretty much come and gone and still no Top Ten has been posted. I can't say that I am surprised. Guess that's how it goes here in the Low Country. I was looking forward to seeing that as I am sure a lot of other people were too. Guess timeliness is not really a way of life here. Oh well. To me this weekend means this weekend, not early to mid next week like it will most likely end up being.

Hi there -- I announced on Facebook that I was waiting until the week because we were notified by five pet owners that their dogs were not in the gallery. I wanted to give the photographers time to go through their original files and upload those missing dogs. So far, we've found four of the five. Just got the 5th notice from a pet owner this morning so I imagine that we'll have that last dog uploaded buy the end of the day. I thought in this case, fairness was more important than timeliness. I want to consider ALL dogs for the Top 10.

I understand, but some people may not use or check Facebook on a regular basis. You could have posted something on this website so that all of the dog owners out there would be aware of the situation.

I think it should be fun! There is no reason to be upset with anyone. Best of luck Leah in picking the winner. It should be hard with all the wonderful dogs to pick from!

In the name of fairness, there is this cool thing called a DEADLINE. Perhaps next time, you could try setting one. That way, there is no misunderstanding when something is not in by a certain time.

by bb | Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 7:52am

Hey hudson - RELAX!!! This is supposed to be fun! You are being way too critical!

by Leah England | Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 10:00am

To keep everyone in the loop on the process:

All missing dogs ( that we were notified of) have been found. After narrowing nearly 600 contestants down to the Top 25 I decided to open up voting on these dogs. All the photos were just so amazing and all the dogs so different, I just couldn't narrow it down myself any more.

The owners of the Top 25 have been contacted. I am waiting on one dog owner to return my call to verify that the chosen dog is indeed her dog. Once I hear from her, I will open up online voting. I hope to hear from her today.

I appreciate everyone's patience. It's not an exact science. :-)

These are last year's photos - This weekend's Pet Fest photos will be up on the site in about a week. We had 628 dogs comes through so it's a lot of photos to upload. Keep your eye out here and on the Facebook page.

by Terra (not verified) | Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 at 9:12pm

Yes, the pics are good it just is not nice to make you wait in line for the photo shoot then told about a contest, and then the pictures that were taken of my pet is not even included in this contest. I would like to know why.

by Leah England | Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 at 10:37am

Terra -- Look at the date on this post. It's last year's galleries! You're looking at photos from 2010!! Not to worry, we will be presenting 2011's galleries later this week. You'll see this year's galleries on the hompage of this site and your dog will be included.

Thanks, LCD
