About Us:

Castle Keepers was founded in Mount Pleasant, S.C., in 1994, and since then we have been making the lives of Lowcountry residents less complicated.

Family-owned and -operated, Castle Keepers has developed a reputation for providing reliable, top-quality service. Due to our unrivaled focus on staff service training and the application of proprietary project management software and logistical management systems, we have become one of the nation’s largest cleaning services in terms of individual clients served.

Our focus on providing the best service possible has led us to evolve our cleaning methods to be more environmentally friendly. Our cleaning products meet or exceed EPA environmental-protection guidelines. Our microfiber towels capture and remove dirt and germs. Our vacuums use multiple filtration systems to remove more dust and dirt than conventional machines.

Castle Keepers is led by Tom and Janice Stewart, family members of the company’s founders.

Tom’s engineering and logistics background have helped him develop operating systems that have made us the envy of many cleaning services across America. Owners of other services often visit our offices to see how we operate. He is an ISSA Certified Expert in Cleaning Industry Management Standards.

Janice provides medical expertise to the creation and application of our cleaning processes. She has a background in biochemistry and extensive experience in hospital infection control, and one of her main focuses is finding ways to provide our clients with the cleanest possible home environment.

Together with a dedicated operations and office staff, they have guided Castle Keepers to become a company that’s recognized nationally as an innovative industry leader.

The barriers to entry are fairly low in the house-cleaning industry. For many, it takes no more than throwing a mop and a vacuum in the trunk of a car and driving around Charleston's nicer neighborhoods placing notes on mailboxes. Needless to say, buyer beware.

There's a broad spectrum in practices and outcomes between cleaning services. Most are licensed, bonded, and insured. Important considerations include clearly establishing client expectations, hiring practices, training, environmental stewardship, scope of work and problem resolution, and they can vary greatly with different service providers.
